Gary Daneff, MSc, PEng, SFPE, CFEI, CVFI, CFII, CCFI-C, is co-owner of Point of Origin Consultants Ltd. Gary has given opinion evidence in the Court of Queen’s Bench and the Tax Court of Canada on matters related to fire, including determination of fire origin and cause, fire investigation, fire protection provisions, and fire development, growth and spread. Gary has also given opinion evidence in both the Court of Queen’s Bench and Provincial Court in New Brunswick on matters related to motor vehicle crash reconstruction and analysis. He has experience in evaluating the failure of wood structures, domestic water systems and other components. Gary has background in interpreting provisions in the National Building and Fire Codes of Canada.
Gary is a registered member of both the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB) and the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia (APENS), and has graduate (MSc) and undergraduate (BSc) degrees in engineering. He is a Professional Member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), a member of the Canadian Association of Fire Investigators (CAFI), and is a member of both the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI) and the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI).
Gary has full ACTAR accreditation as a traffic accident reconstructionist (The Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction), is a member of both the Canadian Association of Technical Accident Investigators and Reconstructionists (CATAIR) and the International Network of Collision Reconstructionists (INCR) and the Event Data Recorder for Collision Reconstruction (CDRtool) Group.
